Aspirations, 2006, stainless steel, 1 x 2 x 3m |
Students at The Westgate School in Slough ran this project to develop a piece of public art for their new gallery space. Following a series of workshops at the school, the concept of 'Reaching for a Star' was chosen, and developed into the final sculpture. Students created glass stars with designs based on inspiring words. These have been set on the canopy above the sculpture, with a large 3D star at the centre.
The project was funded by the school and Creative Partnerships, with support from OVADA. Artist Katy Beinart contributed toward the workshops and fabrication of the artwork as part of a mentoring scheme included in the project.
