Students of Ware schools created dozens of life-size statues of 'the damned' for a local production of the opera L'Orfeo. Six days were spent with sixth formers at Chauncy High School, using traditional sculpture techniques (welding an armature, building up with scrim and plaster), with each student producing at least two statues as part of the opera set. Groups of sixth formers then helped run workshops in local primary schools. Pupils constructed sculptures from bamboo, newspaper and tissue, which became 'lost souls' suspended above the opera set. |
